Dental Implants in Mansfield
Wherever possible we try and save teeth but sometimes an extraction is necessary. When this is the case we will discuss all the future options for replacement with you. One of these options is replacement of a missing tooth with a dental implant with a crown or bridge supported on it. This is the closest feeling to having your own tooth in place of all the options.
What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is a small metal or ceramic rod that is inserted into the jawbone and allowed to heal into the bone. After a period of time, usually a few months, the rod can then be used to support a crown or a bridge and is then uncovered and the restoration is started.
Am I suitable for dental implants?
Dental implants are not suitable for everyone and a full assessment of your remaining teeth and gum condition need to be carried out as well as an assessment of the bone level and quality present. We are fortunate to have access to our CBCT scanner for this and so can capture a high quality 3D picture to aid in this area.
I am a nervous patient can you treat me?
Our dental implants can be placed under IV sedation which is especially convenient if you are a little anxious about this treatment and all of this care can be carried out at our dental implant clinic within Thackeray Dental Care in Mansfield.
How long will dental implants last?
Once dental implants are placed they can last for many years with the right care and maintenance and as such we will recommend a recall programme with our dental hygienist team to ensure you are given the correct advice.
